He said, “When they came into the town on foot, they started shooting sporadically. We all took to our heels. From the way they attacked, it was obvious they were on the run because the army has been clearing them in Sambisa Forest and you know Dikwa is in close proximity to the forest.”

Yoruba Vs Fulani: The OSOGBO War Of 1840 Yoruba Need To Know Before Going Into Battle Battle of

After the Fulanis systematically captured and made Ilorin their territory, they sacked the old Oyo Empire in 1835/1636.

They had been still no longer cozy with their victory; they wished to lengthen their rule deep into the coronary heart of Yoruba land. Thus in 1840, they set to seize Osogbo, a Yoruba town. The Fulanis, underneath the command of Ali, the Hausa Balogun of Ilorin, laid siege on Osogbo.
When the king of Osogbo realized that the Ilorins have been too robust for the Osogbo army, he summoned the Ibadans for help. Ibadan straight away despatched some auxiliaries to Osogbo beneath the command of Obele alias Mobitan, and Alade Abimpagun.
As this force could now not give up the Ilorins, some other contingent used to be sent to Osogbo under an extra skilled leader. Nonetheless, the Ilorins won every conflict and gained more ground.

When Ibadan realized that the Ilorins have been turning into extra threatening to Yoruba land, they sent a giant and more suitable force under Balogun Oderinlo to crush the intruding forces and Jammas of Ilorin.

When Oderinlo and his guys arrived at the battlefield, they realized that things had gone worse than they thought.
They could now not show their faces in the open area for the worry of the Ilorin horses, and for about 20 days after they arrive at Osogbo, they may want to now not battle outdoor the city thickets.

Oderinlo recommended that Elepo, a courageous Ibadan warrior used to be badly wanted at the war- front. Elepo had been rejected by way of the war- chiefs of Ibadan for his moves at the late Agbamaja expedition.

As soon as the message from Oderinlo reached Ibadan, the Bashorun wished he may want to send Elepo to Osogbo however could not go against the desire of other war- chiefs. The Bashorun gave Elepo a cow to worship his god, Ori, and pray for the victory of Ibadan at the war- front.
At the war- front, the Ibadan may want to not attack the Ilorins in the day because Osogbo was virtually in a plain and the Ilorin horses would possibly have a gain of them with disastrous results.

They decided to attack at dusk when the Ilorins would no longer be able to use their horses. About 2: pm, the properly organized Ibadan military left the gate of Osogbo for the battlefield. They had been to hold a strict watch and arrest everyone suspected to be a spy.

About a mile from the Ilorin camp, they halted and organized the order of the attack.

The Osogbo army and the beforehand auxiliaries had been to take care of the center of the battlefield, chiefs Abitiko and Labuju have been to command the right- wing, Balogun Oderinlo with the relaxation of the Ibadan war- chiefs had been to form the left- wing of the army.

The Ilorin camp was once then attacked at midnight. The watchword was " Elo ni owo do? " (How an awful lot is the ferry fare? ).

The purpose this watchword was chosen was once because the river Osun had to be crossed in entering Osogbo from the south, and anyone who could no longer tell this was possibly to be an enemy.
Stampede engulfed the Ilorin camp as the Ibadan army set it on fire. The Ilorin could not provide the slightest resistance; they were smoked with the gunpowder of the Ibadan guns.

This assault was a success for the Ibadan. Some Ilorin war- chiefs had been captured in the attack. Prominent ones were:

Jimba the head slave of the Emir;

One of the sons of Ali the commander in chief;

Chief Lateju;

Ajikobo the Yoruba Balogun of Ilorin.

The first two were released while the latter two, being Yoruba by way of birth, had been viewed as traitors and have been executed. This was once a big victory for the whole of Yoruba land.
After the Osogbo victory,

Ibokun, an Ijesa town no longer some distance from Osogbo used to be taken using the Ibadans for being an ally of Ilorin.

After this war, Ìbàdàn later grew to become a force constructing bold hostilities equipment than later prosecuted many different wars with a resounding victory.

Notable amongst the wars was the KIRIJI WAR where the Ibadan warlords formed a historic alliance with the Igbajos. Even even though Igbajo became the struggle front for many years that the combat lasted, it was once by no means captured by the raging Ekiti parapò warriors. Rather it used to be a region the place many of them met their Waterloo.

Notable among the warriors were Fabunmi Okeemesi, Ogedengbe Agbogun gboro of the Ijesas, Apasikoto pasigegele of Igbajo, and Latoosa of Ibadan to point out a few. There were many more excellent warriors of the time.

It' s priceless to the word that the KIRIJI WAR was the closing hostilities in Yoruba land.
It' s additionally recorded as the longest native fighting in Africa.

Since then the Yoruba people have endured building robust bonds among themselves and they have sustained the peace.

We must continue to tell our adolescents the records of the Yoruba humans and the bond which our father had constructed so that we can continue to see ourselves as one.

If the Ibadan human beings can sacrifice their lives for the humans of Osogbo in different to secure other towns and villages in Yoruba land and essence the carnage of innocent human beings had been prevented, then, we the modern- day Yorubas have no cause to divide ourselves for political motives or any reason at all.

Our leaders ought to proceed to put their lives at the forefront to secure the land from all aggression.

And we have the responsibility to support, advise, and pray for all our leaders.

Meet King Leopold Who Massacred 10 Million Africans, Cutting Off Their Heads & Genitals

A child victim of Belgian atrocities in Congo stands with a missionary, Congo, ca. 1890- 1910

His majesty King Leopold II.

Background

The Congo Free State was a corporate state in Central Africa privately owned by King Leopold II of Belgium founded and recognized by the Berlin Conference of 1885. In the 23 years (1885- 1908) Leopold II ruled the Congo, he massacred 10 million Africans by cutting off their hands and genitals, flogging them to death, starving them into forced labour, holding children ransom and burning villages. The ironic part of this story is that Leopold II committed these atrocities by not even setting foot in the Congo. Under Leopold II' s administration…
A Congolese man looking at the severed hand and foot of his five- year- old daughter who was killed, and allegedly cannibalized, by the members of Anglo- Belgian India Rubber Company militia. He hadn' t made his rubber quota for the day so the Belgian- appointed overseers had cut off his daughter' s hand and foot. Her name was Boali. She was five years old. Then they killed her. But they weren' t finished. Then they killed his wife too. And because that didn' t seem quite cruel enough, quite strong enough to make their case, they cannibalized both Boali and her mother. And they presented Nsala with the tokens, the leftovers from the once living body of his darling child whom he so loved.

The ABIR Congo Company (founded as the Anglo- Belgian India Rubber Company and later known as the Compagnie du Congo Belge) was the company appointed to exploit natural rubber in the Congo Free State. ABIR enjoyed a boom through the late 1890s, by selling a kilogram of rubber in Europe for up to 10 fr which had cost them just 1. 35 fr.
Men holding hands severed from victims
A catholic priest quotes a man, Tswambe, speaking of the hated state official Léon Fiévez:

From all the bodies killed in the field, you had to cut off the hands. He wanted to see the number of hands cut off by each soldier, who had to bring them in baskets…A village which refused to provide rubber would be completely swept clean
An illustration from HM Stanley' s " The Congo and the founding of its free state; a story of work and exploration.
Under the reign of Leopold II, the Congo' s unique wildlife was fair game for sport killing by almost any hunter who could book passage and pay for a hunting license.

King leopold II was also depicted in " Heart of darkness" by Joseph Conrad.

Revealed! PTF Is Thinking Of Imposing Lockdown In Lagos, Abuja, And Plateau Over COVID-19 Second Wave

Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha

According to a report by The PUNCH, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 is considering targeted lockdown in some pars of the country.

The PTF is considering lockdown in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja; as well as Lagos and Plateau States.

PTF National Incident Manager, Mukhtar Muhammed, who stated this on Friday, described as alarming, the rising cases of Covid infections recorded in the three urban areas.

Muhammed said data showed that urban local governments in the affected places recorded the highest cases of Covid amid the second wave of the pandemic in Nigeria. According to data by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Lagos (46,935 cases), Abuja (16,470 cases), Plateau (7,801) have recorded the highest number of Covid infections and fatalities in Nigeria in the last eleven months.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme monitored by The PUNCH, the PTF official said the Federal Government wants economic activities to continue but these activities must be in a regulated fashion.

When asked of the possibility of a targeted lockdown and not a total lockdown based on data of hotspot areas, Muhammed said,“That is exactly what we did, we have been analysing the data and we have been looking at the geographical areas that have been most affected and the different age groups.”

“Certainly, even if we are going to have a lockdown, it is not going to be a total lockdown. A couple of weeks back, we analysed the data and we identified the hotspot local government areas.

“Mostly, the areas affected are the urban local governments in Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, Plateau. Even in most other states, it is the urban areas that are involved. So, if we are going to have any restriction, it will be in these areas.

“The urban areas are the most affected and that is why we have these superspreaders and that is where we are going to target. We have analysed that and we are advising the states based on the data that these are the focused areas where these transmissions are more than the others,” he added.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that the Federal Government in March 2020 locked down Abuja Lagos and Ogun for over five weeks as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 during the first wave of the pandemic.

The lockdown had a tremendous effect on economic activities with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry putting the loss at about N3bn in the period under review.

Many jobs were also lost as airlines, hotels, banks, amongst others cut their workforce due to the crushing effect of the lockdown.

Pastor Adeboye Left Members In Shock After He Revealed When He Will Die

Pastor Enoch Adeboye says he will not die young, predicting he will live to celebrate his 90th birthday before preparing to breathe his last.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) who is currently 78 years of age, and would be 90 in 2033, says unless Jesus Christ returns, then it would be a lie to think he would depart this life.

The revered cleric made the statement during a special service of the RCCG on Sunday.

Hear him: “I am not going to die young. Some people were laughing when they heard me say that don’t worry yourselves celebrating any birthday for me now. Wait till I am 90; then we will celebrate for a whole month.

“They think I am joking. Unless the Lord returns before then, at the age of 90, I am going to celebrate for a whole month.

“There will be a day for each fellow. A day for America, a day for Australia, a day for pastors, a day for the choir, a day for the people in the legal department, a day for heads of states, etc.

“At the age of 90, after that celebration, then I can begin to get ready to go. But, that I am going to die soon, that’s a lie.”

IPOB Justifies Clash With Soldiers

THE proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday justified the clash between its security outfit – the Eastern Security Network (ESN) – and the military.

It also claimed that five residents of Okporo community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State were killed when ESN men clashed with soldiers last Friday.
Though the Army said only one person died in the crossfire, IPOB insisted that five people were killed and several others were injured in the skirmish between the security outfit and soldiers drawn from the 34 Artillery Brigade in Obinze.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by IPOB’s spokesman Emma Powerful, the group accused Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma of working with the Army to attack and flush out ESN officers from the bushes where they are operating from.

The statement reads: “ESN personnel are in the bush and forest chasing…terrorists and herdsmen who are over there terrorising our members and sisters in their respective farms, not Nigeria security agencies but they are looking for ESN’s trouble.

“Since the formation and inauguration of ESN by our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on December 12, 2020, they have been inside the bushes and forests; their job is to protect farmers from invaders who made pronouncements that all lands in Nigeria belong to them.
“Every time, Nigerian Army and the police would come and look for their trouble in the bush,” he said, adding that the group will resisit any attempt to clamp down on its members.

He accused some Southeast leaders, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma of aligning with the military to attack ESN.

The governor, in a statement by his spokesman Oguwike, said the dusk-to-dawn curfew was declared following disturbing report on the activities of a group of militants that unleashed mayhem on Orlu residents.

Igboho: some Yoruba leaders backing criminal herdsmen

YORUBA activist Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a Sunday Igboho) on Tuesday alleged that some Yoruba leaders were supporting criminal herders to perpetrate their nefarious activities in the Southwest.

He also alleged that such leaders supported those who burnt one of his houses in his Ibadan, Oyo State, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Igboho, who fielded questions from reporters in his damaged residence at Soka area, challenged those who have scores to settle with him to confront him, instead of setting his house ablaze.

The police have begun investigation into the destruction of Igboho’s property, according to the Oyo State Police Command spokesman Gbenga Fadeyi.

The embattled activist said he lost property worth N50 million.

Explaining how the fire was put out, the Director of Operations, Oyo State Fire and Safety Service, Adeleke Ismail said: “The Oyo State Fire Service Agency was called to the fire incident at exactly 03.20 hours of Tuesday, 26th January 2021 through a GSM number.

“Instantly, our men moved to the location with the new Mercedes Fire Tender FS 10 OY with four personnel from the Molete Station and on arrival at the house, which was located at Soka area of Ibadan, found out that the waiting room and passage of the three-bedroom flat were alight.”

The Service said a resident, who identified himself as Mr. Wale, drew its attention to incident.

It said: “The fire ravaged the following items: a set of sofa in the waiting room where the fire started, a Plasma TV, an air conditioner and other items in the waiting room.

“At about 04.30 hours, the fire truck and four personnel of the Agency led by Principal Fire Superintendent II, Ogunkanbi, returned to the station and stand by for operational duties.”

Igboho denied enjoying any financial patronage from politiciana, challenging any politician with a genuine claim that he was paid to do what he is doing to come out.

He said until the herders who are killing people in the region move out, he will not be deterred.

Igboho also chided a Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, for his remarks about him, saying he never met him.

Igboho said: “What is surprising to me is that I never expected that we Yoruba people should be in support of the evils being perpetrated by the herdsmen. I am surprised that the Fulani are killing our people in our own territory. They rape and kidnap our people.

“It is a terrible thing. So, I am trying to repel them. But, it is shocking to me that, despite the efforts that I am making some Yoruba people are supporting Fulani herdsmen to set my house on fire. It is so distressing and it saddens me.

“For now, I am not suspecting anybody. But, Yoruba people would say there is no action without a cause; it is a pointer to the fact that enemies within are at work. Inasmuch as I am their target they should have come to my house to confront me.

“I would have been able to pin some of them down to get to root of this. they wouldn’t have gone scotfree. Now, they resulted to destroying my property.

“It is until the Fulani men who are killing our people move out that the scores would be settle. And, there is no politician who can induce or pay me for the course that I am running.

“Since the herdsmen go about perpetrating heinous crimes, government never intervened. It is not just happening today. It was my visit that opened the cans of warm.

“I needed to go to there because it is where I come from. They are my family members. It is the same tribal marks that I am wearing that Dr. Aborode who was killed had on his face. I can’t keep mum in the face of oppression and humiliation.

“Any politician who has a genuine claim that I was paid to do this should come forth. Nobody is bankrolling me. The simple point that I am making is that there might be peace in Yoruba land. The Fulani herdsmen should not subject us in our own territory. But, it is disheartening that fellow Yoruba men would gang up against a just course.

“I heard that Femi Ojudu alleged that I had a meeting with him in Ibadan in 2009 during the election period.

“I can see clearly that he is mentally sick. when people came to confirm or deny Ojodu’s claim I responded by saying that he should swear with the life of his children if if he ever had a meeting with me.

He added: “I see that my agitation against the killer herdsmen is being politicised to discredit my personality to get me distressed but their plot would fail. The schemes by the politicians would not stand. All the lies being peddled against me by Femi Ojudu would fail.

“I never knew him and they are cooking lies against me. It is until the Fulani men who are killing our people move out that the scores would be settle. And, there is no politician who can heinous crimes government never intervened. It is not just happening today. It was my visit that opened the cans of warm.”

Igboho also dissociated himself from the various accounts on social media platforms, especially Facebook and Twitter, posting unverified information in his name.

He warned Nigerians not to be scammed by persons using his name on social media platforms, saying the accounts are being operated fraudulently by impostors.

We’ll secure Ibarapa, says Oyo Speaker

OYO State House of Assembly Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin said the government will secure the lives and properties of the people of Ibarapa

The Speaker, who urged residents to brace for security challenges, said a security summit has been scheduled for tomorrow in Ibarapa Central Local Government Area.

He said security chiefs, traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, representatives of ethnic groups, youths, and farmers will brainstorm at the meeting.

Ogundoyin said: “Security and welfare of citizens is the primary responsibility of government. My meetings with different stakeholders and security chiefs in the last few weeks on the spate of kidnappings, armed robberies, assassination and other crimes in Ibarapa land have revealed the need for a synergy of plans.

“Normally, security plans and strategies are not made public in crisis situation like this. However, we will work in tandem with the stakeholders and security heads to ensure implementation of our strategies.

“This is why all stakeholders are expected to attend the summit so that we can further fine tune ways of securing our land and exposing the evil doers who are all out to shed our blood and dispossess us of our hard-earned money and properties.”

The speaker said farmers/herders clashes in Ibarapa and across Oyo State will be addressed permanently once the law on anti-open rearing and grazing of livestock, which he sponsored and was passed by the Assembly, is fully implemented.

He added: “However, we must not allow the situation to degenerate into full blown tribal or ethnic feud. We must avoid turning our land to a war zone. Everything possible must be done to ensure that our land does not become a battle field or a war zone.

“Nobody prays for war in our land and this is why we have to come to a roundtable so as to agree on how best to approach this issue.”

JUST IN: Sunday Igboho Alleges Betrayal By Some Yorubas, Declares He Knows Those Who Burnt His House

Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has declared some Yorubas were part of those who razed his residence in the early hours of Tuesday.
“What I find surprising is that some Yorubas are in support of the herdsmen to set my house on fire. I’m saddened by it,” he said.

“When they knew they could fight, fire gunshots, and set a house ablaze, isn’t it where I stay that they are supposed to come? If they had come to the house where I stay, I would have had evidence for you people (journalists) because they won’t all escape.

“It’s either you meet their dead bodies or meet them with broken legs. I thank God that they applied wisdom by going to a house where they know that I don’t live and destroyed my properties and burnt it down.”
He also disclosed the value of damaged items in the residence could not be less than N50m.
On how he knew about the attack on his old house, Igboho, who spoke with journalists, said the arsonists fired gunshots before breaking in.He said: “Around 3.30am today, my younger ones residing at my old house rushed to my gate to wake me up, saying some bandits came to the house, fired gunshots, broke the gate and set the house ablaze. The two people at the house managed to escape. By the time I got there, the bandits had escaped. So, we called firefighters to help us put out the fire.”
On why he’s against the criminal herdsmen, Igboho said their atrocities in Yorubaland are preventing peace from reigning.
“These Fulanis are killing our brothers in our fatherland. They’re killing, raping, and kidnapping. All the things they are doing to us are not good. That’s why I’m trying to unite our people so that we can chase them away for peace to reign in Yorubaland,” he said.
Also reacting to the incident, Salami Oladapo, media aide to Sunday Igboho said that they know the identities of the people who burnt the building.

Speaking with reporters on the phone, Oladapo said: "We know the perpetrators but we won’t disclose yet. If they were strong enough, they should have come to his new house but they dare not. We are looking at the trend of things before we say anything.

"No one was injured. We are not going to do anything, we leave it to God. No cause for alarm, we are calm now so we can adequately plan our next move."

Earlier on Tuesday, after the arson attack on his house, Igboho said he was not in a hurry to blame any individual or group for it.

Igboho said he would allow the authorities to investigate the incident.

“I cannot blame anyone right now for the attack, not even Fulani people,” he said by telephone hours after the attack. “We have to thank God that nobody was killed, it is more important.”
He said he moved out of the property about a year ago to a new property also in Soka, the same area in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Igboho had given a seven-day ultimatum to Fulani herdsmen to leave the Ibarapa area of Oyo State, blaming them for the insecurity there.

Last week, shortly after Igboho's visit to Igangan community in the state, the house and cars of the Seriki Fulani of Igangan, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir, were burnt by some youths.

Abdulkadir later said he and his family had to trek from Oyo State to Ogun State, taking bush paths.

Since the Seriki Fulani's belongings were gutted in the arson attack, some persons and groups, particularly from the North, have been calling for the arrest of Igboho, blaming him for the attack on the Fulani leader.
