Babajide Sanwo-Olu was born on the 25th of June, 1965 in Lagos State, Nigeria. Being born into a Christian family, Sanwo-Olu started following God at an early age.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu had his primary and secondary education in Lagos State. He gained admission to study at the prestigious University of Lagos, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree. Sanwo-Olu also is also an alumnus of London Business School, Lagos Business School and the John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Career
Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu worked as treasurer with the former Lead Merchant Bank from 1994 to 1997 before moving to the United Bank for Africa where he served as the head of foreign money market.
After working at UBA, he proceeded to the First City Monument Bank (then First Inland Bank, Plc) where he worked as a deputy general manager and divisional head. He also worked as the Baywatch Group Limited and First Class Group Limited.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu also worked as the Managing Director/CEO of Lagos State Property Development Corporation (LSPDC) before declaring his intentions to contest for the Governor of Lagos.

In 2003, Babajide Sanwo-Olu got his first appointments as the Special Adviser on Corporate Matters to the then deputy governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro. After that, he was made the acting Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget.
In 2007, Bola Tinubu , the then governor of Lagos State appointed Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry.
After the 2007 general elections, Governor Babatunde Fashola appointed Sanwo-Olu as Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu formally declared his intentions of running for the office of the governor of Lagos State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party. Surprisingly, on the 2nd of October, 2018, he defeated the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in the primaries.
His victory was due to the supports he got from major stakeholders in Lagos State politics; including members of the Lagos State House of Assembly (this led to withdrawal of Dr. Femi Hamzat from the gubernatorial race) and the Governor’s Advisory Council of the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu was declared winner of the 2019 gubernatorial elections which held 9th March, 2019. He defeated his opponent, Jimi Agbaje with a wide margin.
