LEAVE OUR PEOPLE ALONE! ! Imo Rep Members Cries For Help, Accuses Nigerian Army Of Killing, Harassing Their Constituents Over Gulak's Death

The death of APC Chieftain, Ahmed Gulak over the weekend in Owerri seems to be generating more issues of insecurity within the State as Imo State representatives at the green chamber have raised an alarm over some ongoing extrajudicial killing by the men of the Nigerian Army.
Chinedu Martins and Bede Eke who are representing Ahiazu/Ezinitte Federal Constituency and Mbaise/Ngor- Okpala Federal Constituency respectively at the House of Representatives had alerted all Nigerians on Thursday over the senseless killings and continued violation of human rights by the Army.

Martins submitted that it is unacceptable to continue to see the lifeless body of their beloved ones, destruction of properties on the pages of the Newspaper and called for an urgent solution to put an end to these menaces. He cited recent cases " such as the young and promising Chidiebere Emereuwa of the Nigeria Air Force, a native of Obizi in my constituency who was reportedly killed at a checkpoint near Akachi Junction; another ugly incident of a Germany- based Unachukwu who allegedly died after being shot on the head at a military checkpoint near Sam Mbakwe Airport while trying to catch a flight; and of course, the wicked and gruesome murder of an APC chieftain, Dr Ahmed Gulak, who was reportedly in the state a national assignment" .
He said the body language of some politicians who tends to give issues as important as life and death a political colouration is responsible for the reason why people of genuine concern step in to find lasting solutions to the trending menaces before things get out of hands. He however called for those who are involved in these callous acts to put an end to it immediately.Meanwhile, his fellow imolite, Eke, was very emphatic while accusing men of the Nigerian Army over killing some of his constituents and the incessant harassment faced by his people since the killing of Gulak in Owerri. He however called on the security agents to respond to the petitions written by his people and advised the Army to stop haunting his constituents and allow them to sleep in their houses.

" Recently in Imo State, so many issues and security challenges have been on and I want to tell you that we have had casualties; some of my constituents killed and we expect the police and the military to unravel the killers of these people. These are innocent citizens, I am aware that the family of these constituents of mine has written a petition to the Nigerian Army. We lost a young man who until his death owned a Shawarma shop just to make ends meet. He was shot by the Army. The reason was that he did not obey the rules at a checkpoint, he said" As a representative of my people, for us, I want to make it known to the world that we are waiting for the outcome of that petition. And as a representative of the people, I am giving the Nigerian Army 14 days to respond to the killing of that gentleman who left a pregnant and expectant mother and two children– three and two. What will become of those children, even the one that is yet unborn? he narrated
" I have photos and videos of people being killed. Our people can no longer sleep in their houses. My constituents called me to speak for the world to hold the security agents responsible if my people are killed. There is nothing wrong with arresting people; there is nothing wrong with investigation; there is nothing wrong in unravelling the killers and sponsors of these heinous crimes. But the issue is that let the innocent people be free; it is enshrined in the Constitution– freedom of movement. he added

The lawmaker asked a very pertinent question that " If you have arrested and killed some people (who killed Gulak) as a result of this crime, why are you still haunting my constituents? Why are these people (constituents) not allowed to stay in their houses? " .

Let' s talk about the question raised by the lawmaker.

Why would the Nigerian Army continue to harass the people over the killing of a man whose killers were allegedly arrested and killed by the police? .

Could the allegations levelled against the Army be wrong or you think they are doing their jobs?
Why are the SouthEastern Politicians not talking loud over the actions of the Unknown Gunmen?
