It's been a very hot week between the pastor of Winners Chapel, Pastor Oyedipo and the federal government as earlier in the week the pastor strongly disagreed on why market opening should be given preference over church opening.
If we put religion aside we will understand that what the government is doing is for our good and safety, so it's essential we think logically and not with sentiments or emotions.
Despite the FG government explaining why churches and other entertainment centers are not allowed to open, he went ahead to declare his churches open across the nation.
This single act of his has shown that he isn’t patriotic, it shows disobedience and also shows insubordination as his mission is under a Christian body.
His action is misleading and inciteful as this can cause chaos and as well lead people to their early graves if nothing is done.
Oyedipo has one of the largest church population, if his churches should open across the nation, many people stand the risk of being infected and also infect others.
His behavior shows a standoff against the government which is punishable under the law, his declaration of death against whosoever disagrees with his decision also should not be waved off.
Churches all over the world are still closed, why should ours be an exemption especially when the virus isn’t slowing down at all?
Instead of using his voice as a public figure to help the situation, why is he bringing forth disunity and inciting the public to disobey the government’s order?
Can’t we drop religion for once and try to be reasonable? The church is just a building, we are the church and the temple of God, and the bible says where two or three are gathered, he is there.
We can seek the face of God anywhere, the same God who spoke through a donkey in the bible can listen to us in our bedroom, toilets if we call on him, provided we are free of iniquities.
At this rate, if the preacher doesn’t stop with his continuous confusions and inciteful statements, he might get arrested to either serve as an example to those who want to do the same or to ensure that all rules and regulation laid out by the FG to combat the spread of the virus, is duly followed/obeyed.
